Tongue Tie

“God wasn’t joking when He said the tongue is a rudder and it steers the whole ship in James 3. When I found out my tongue tie was causing all my health issues and addressed it with the laser treatment with Dr. Rhuele… it changed my life.”

-Amy Fornear, LMT

WHAT:

What Is a Tongue-Tie?

Lip/Tongue Ties - Virginia VA Doctor - Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Center of Virginia

Tongue tie occurs when a band of tissue connects the tip of the tongue to the floor of the mouth (this tissue connects to the toes. See picture above!), impacting normal posture function. Without treatment, tongue-tie can affect your oral health, speech, teeth placement, and nutrition which effects everything!

Do I Have Tongue-Tie?

The effects of tongue-tie

Depending on the severity, tongue-tie can be a serious obstacle in your development that needs to be corrected and healing recovery no matter what age.

Without intervention, tongue-tie can cause:

  • Trouble eating
  • Speech impediments
  • Inability to stick your tongue out
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Improper growth and development of the mouth and jaws
  • Consistent headaches and tension in neck
  • Has a hard time eating some foods or choking because they have a hard time swallowing
  • Late and inadequate cranial nerve development
  • Left hip pain
  • Sleep disorders
  • Snores
  • Hard time breathing through nose 24/7

New research is showing connections between tongue-tie and enlarged tonsils and adenoids, repetitive ear infections, dental issues (orthodontic problems), neck pain, and headaches. Tongue-tie can also make it hard for you to remove food from your teeth, causing oral hygiene issues over time. Infants with severe cases of tongue-tie can have trouble breastfeeding or using a bottle, which can lead to nutritional problems and inadequate weight gain.

WHY:

Why Does it Matter as an Adult? "I'm too old."

Just recently, a 69 year old client got water laser and it stopped her grinding and snoring.

Tongue posture effects hip Posture, it does not matter how old you are.

The speaker in this video promotes mouth gaurds, however, the solution we have found be 100% more successful is Tongue Tie Release.

Why Does it Matter as an Adult? "It's too much money. It won't solve my issues."

I wish I got a Tongue Tie release before spending 15 years of a growing infection, dead tooth and skull injury from TMJ surgery, when it never helped the health issues I was having: Left knee problems, right back leg pain, sinus infections all the time, specific infection from TMJ surgery weakness, strep carrier, and focus issues.

I had an unresolved tongue tie the whole time. Just for your information TMJ is not recommended by dentists anymore. I’m so thankful for the Tongue Tie release, it was life changing as it changed my whole posture from head to toe.

Tongue to Toes! (Deep Front Line Meridian)

The DFL plays a major role in the body’s support:

  • Lifting in the inner arch;
    Stabalizing each segment of the legs, including the hip;
  • Supporting the lumbbar spine from the front;
  • Surrounding and shaping the abdominopelvic balloon;
  • Stabalizing the chest while allowing the expansion and relaxation of breathing
  • Balancing the fragile neck and heavy head atop it all.

Lack of support, balance, and proper tonus in the DFL (as in the common pattern where short DFL myofascia does not allow the hip joint to open fully into extension) will produce overall shortening in the body, encourage collapse in the pelvic and spinal core, and lay the groundwork for negative compensatory adjustments in all the other lines we have decribed.

Amy’s Tongue-Tie
Release Story (At 34 years old)

Did the procedure hurt?

I was a little nervous the morning of but sent a few prayer texts out. I was thankful. The staff explained more in detail and it helped my nerves calm down. They’re so nice. As an adult – it was not bad at all.

No pain during the water laser procedure. They numb you with a gel first so you don’t feel the local shots of anesthesia. I did not feel a thing and if you do they tell you to raise a hand. I never had raise my hand, but if anyone does they just add more anesthesia. No problem.

How long is the procedure?

How long does it take?
Total a hour and 20 minutes of your time for the appointment. The procedure alone lasted 10 minutes (including the time it took to numb the area). Afterwards you feel like you over stretched your tongue underneath and it feels sore for 2 to 7 days. You will have a follow up either the following week or in two weeks.

Did I notice any changes immediately?

Yes. On the table I felt a release, especially in my neck and my solar plexus (upper gut area). Not everyone is a geek like me when it comes to posture changes. Only a few clients told me they felt an immeidiate release in their whole body. Others felt their negative symptoms disappear within the week.

Everyone has different posture meridians that are effected by a tongue tie so you will feel releases differently, but gurgling will happen as you will have the Deep Front Line Meridian of muscles open up and give more space for blood flow.

Body changes I expierenced

My Neck:
I didn’t realize my whole life my neck was that tight until it unlocked. It felt like someone was squeezing my neck all my life and in one second they let go.

My Core Muscles:
My guts didn’t stop gurgling the whole day. I felt like I had space in my body and didn’t have to fidget to sit still.

Could Breathe Better:
My lungs had more space and I could move my head 180 degrees with out getting stuck! I could breath large amounts of air. I almost felt dizzy because of how much oxygen I got with every breath. It was amazing!

Left Hip & Knee Stopped Giving Out:
Due to my obsessive running habbits in college (12 to 15 miles of jogging a day) – my left knee developed scar tissue. Once the tongue tie release happened, I slowly felt my knee gain mobility with out hard scar tissue in the back of my knee. The nodule of “lumpiness” slowly went away over a month.

Is Dr. Rhuele's staff nice?

Absolutely. They have a great staff and office building that makes you feel like you’re in a new mountain town or a modern cabin. They make you feel at home.

Meal Prep

Make a few frozen soups with nothing sharp in them to enjoy the first 3 days.

2 Tablespoons of Molasses a Day

Start taking 2 TBS a day as soon as you confirm your tongue-tie procedure date.

This is a great way to comfort your body for the new change of posture and give fuel to your body to heal faster.

Essential Oil Bomb

Anitbiotics kill all bacteria, and I personally have had my fill enough to make me sick.

Essential oils regulate bacteria from multiplying within their colony creating infection.

Start this oily bomb 2 days before procedure.

The Essential Oil Bomb will help kill bacteria and boost the immune system to continue fighting disease in an easier way:

In a veggie capsule, put:

Directions:
Take the capsule with water and food 3 times a day for 5 days.

Drink plenty of water after taking each pill. A failure to do so may cause oregeno to come up. Sip the water for a minute or so after swollowing.

Do not prefill capsules.
Do not skip dosages.

Book Same-Day Bodywork Session

As soon as you book your procedure, text me to book your post bodywork session the same day.

Just Plain Relief Roll On

Roll this amazing mixture of oil all over chin, neck and jaw for pain relief.

This has helped me after implant surgery, which is drill through bone and having your mouth wide open for 1 to 2.5 hours.

Tongue Tie release takes 10 minutes total.

Gallon of Water a Day

Ozonating your water will help relieve the pain and encourage more effective healing.

20 Minutes of Walking A day

I know this is repeated a lot, however – it will help reset your new posture!

If you need a reminder of how amazing walking effects your tongue activity watch this video. Remember to exchange his idea of a mouth guard for the solution of a tongue-tie release.

Fish Eggs

Take 3 pills of Fish Eggs in the morning and 3 pills at night. This supplies K2 and D3 to help heal the cut and comfort the body to enjoy this easier posture and movement through gravity.

Tape Mouth Shut

Yes, you can breathe when your mouth is shut. We just are not used to it, especially at night and especially if you are tongue tied.

Breathing through the nose is better than mouth breathing as the nose slows the air down, warms the air, cleans the air and filters it with small hairs. Taping your mouth shut is not a permanant thing, just until your body gets used to the new posture after the tongue tie procedure.

Directions: Use the tape below. It will train your tongue, face and whole body to switch to the new healthier posture!

Bodywork (3-6 Sessions Post Procedure)

This will help clean out waste from procedure, kill off bacteria and encourage your new tongue posture to help encourage your total body posture through massage/stretch.

Based on our assesment that day you will need weekly massage appointments for 3-6 weeks. (Hint: Doing your homework will improve healing.)
