About Amy
Hello! Glad you’re here! I grew up in Dallas and moved to Denton for a degree in Human Development and Family Studies before becoming a licensed massage therapist for 13 years with 8,000+ hours of client bodywork and 8 years as a massage therapist instructor. I love the outdoors, reading, coffee, tea, water, and eating meals with family and friends. I love my church and serve God. I love Jesus and His Word because in the beginning He was here without any of our consent on health and a functioning body. Jesus, the Creator of all cells of the human body, is the ultimate Physician and any question we have is in the Bible. He heals us through His logic from the Bible, reasoning from His Word, and knowing the anatomy He designed! His death and resurrection gave me forgiveness and ability to say no to sin and a relationship with Him forever.
I have learned you cannot buy health. With that, I believe there’s only two factors to heal: blood flow through muscles and Jesus.
Hope to meet you and see if I can help you or at the least refer to the right medical practitioner for your health journey,
Amy Fornear, LMT
About Amy: Long Version
Hello! I’m Amy Fornear, founder of Posture Restorations.
I’ve spent most of my life asking why…
Questioning Pain
Why do some people experience pain while others don’t? In childhood, I asked why can a simple act of care—like a glass of water and a head massage —ease my mom’s headaches in minutes? In high school, I asked why do some people die from cancer… and others survive like my dad who had 4th stage melanoma skin cancer and a few days to live (his story here)? Are miracles when people pray or when people eat food to make more blood? If dehydration is 90% the reason for disease, why would people not just drink more water? A labor and delivery nurse told me one 9/10 times a pregnant mother ends up in the hospital prematurely is a lack of hydration and food. A pastor once told me people want peace of mind and knowing Jesus Christ is the only way to get it.
Is the solution to all our problems really just Jesus and blood (food and water)?
Questioning People
I grew up as a pastor’s kid, which meant our living room was often a quiet space for heavy conversations. I’d overhear counseling sessions—I don’t remember names, just stories, wedding rings of church members being thrown on the table, pain hanging in the air. I became deeply curious: Why don’t people just read the Bible like any book from start to finish every year? God promises healing and peace and He claims to be the answer – are people lying or is God lying?
Questioning Sports
Growing up, I played sports and wondered why some athletes walked away from injuries while others’ injuries ended their career. I wondered why people kept going back to sports after injuries? Was it a form of abuse or just “endurance” that everyone idolizes? Is Nike’s “Just Do It” motto for health a good thing or an eye service to sports fans with nachos and a beer in hand? Why are white girls on my basketball team always depressed eating their feelings more than their meals, while the black girls said you were crazy if you skipped lunch? Is health as simple as eating food and drinking water?
Questioning Training
After graduating from UNT in Denton in 2011 with a Human Development and Family Studies degree I was planning to get my masters in counseling…long story short – God lead me back to anatomy. I rerouted to massage school and graduated at Institute of Bodyworks to become a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2013.
After school, I worked at a chiropractic office, but I kept massaging the same people every week with no results—just their money spent and no real change. I hated it.
I worked at an afterschool program, wondered why kids were not behaving. The ones who had snacks seemed to be more focused – may be because it kept them busy – sitting down, chewing, and swallowing as an event. The ones who skipped one or two meals a day seemed to have behavior issues. In my conclusion of years working there, the ones who ate three meals a day didn’t loose their minds.
I almost quit…
After watching client come in and out with 50% results from the massage orders of a chiropractor and watching the education system just patch up children’s needs to learn, I was about to quit everything… until I was introduced to my now massage therapist mentor, Lori Walter. She helped a friend get her hearing and smelling back from a major traumatic head injury. She learned old school massage in the 80s from an olypmic trainer, Stuart Toas, and two midwives. They all had the same theory of healing: blood flow. Finally, it all clicked when I sat in one of her classes. If the muscles around the liver do not have blood – the liver will not detox or function. Muscles clean and clear organs naturally all day long through oxygen, pressure, heat, blood, and water. This is basic anatomy 101: Homeostasis. With out these things we are considered bloodless and decaying.
After 8 years of teaching massage with my mentor and a total of 13 years of 8,000+ hours of massage, I learned muscles are king and there is power in the blood.
A few years later, I was bit by a dog and nearly bled to death on the street. I had to undergo emergency surgery and spent a couple nights in the hospital. I lost my nerves, arteries, and most of my tricep, and part of my bicep and forearm muscles. The gash was 3x4x5 inches. I went to physical therapy and sank into a depression, thinking I had lost the feeling in my hand —and with it, the ability to ever massage again. For me, physical therapy made it worse and my mental state worsened. They gave me repetitive homework: biking, squeezing a ball over and over… It made the scar tissue grow clogging my lypmathic flow to my brain and hand and my whole side. The scar tissue thickened and made things worse. I was worried to lose my career as a massage therapist.
After just two or three sessions with my massage mentor, I could feel my hand and move my arm again. The brain fog lifted, my mood improved, and I could massage once more. I was already sold on this therapy, but experiencing its healing power firsthand confirmed God’s calling: to help others become their best through blood flow via clinical massage therapy.
But Wait There is More…
After finally recovering from the bite, I thought I was out of the woods. But my health became a 7 year battle from what I later found out – a major tumorous, infection from a TMJ surgery in my early 20s. During college, I was told I needed to “expand” my palate to sleep better and have a better bite. Trusting the dentist, my parents and I didn’t know the complications since no one trains the average person to ask the correct questions to a dentist or doctor. Fast forwarding, 10 years later I found myself throwing up in the bathroom every night at 2:00am for 4 months straight. Feeling perfectly normal during the day and then boom in the darkest hour rushing to the bathroom. Not knowing it was a Class II Mold Exposure plus my bone loss infection from the TMJ surgery years prior, all I was left was complete fear, helplessness, and panic. Thinking you’ll die in your early 30s from unknown reasons mixed with only shame and accusations from doctors and confusion and questions from friends and family because they love you and don’t know how to help…it seemed like I was alone. When you’re that sick – you don’t even know how to ask for help because…you don’t know what would help.
I was left with just God. “Help, God, I don’t know how…Just Help. Me.”
The next night, I had spent a night somewhere else and thought, “Wow, I should move here—this city is so much more peaceful, and I’m not even sick.” For the first time in ages, I didn’t wake up at 2:00 a.m. to throw up. Then I realized – It’s my home. It has mold. I went and got tested for mold taking a blood test (MOLD PAGE coming soon) and using NAET with, Dr. Jennifer Pollen allergy elimination. It took multiple massage therapy sessions, multiple NAET sessions, along with weekly ozone IVs, and other immunity boosting IVs. Slowly, I got better. For reference, the manager of the apartments said he would quit if he had to go back into the apartment to clean the source of the issue: Water damage from outside. The sprinkles were leaking into the wood flooring. I lived in this for 18 months. He said being in there for just 30 minutes he was very, very ill. Even the mold inspector professional said he was majorly ill just being in there for one day. I believe I had a tolerance because my body was busy fixing my infection in my face and jaw.
After multiple doctors and dentists with no answers of why my skin was developing cancerous spots, teeth were dead, gums were decaying, and my jaw was hurting. There was one dentist, Dr. Christopher Bott, in Pilot Point, TX who pointed out how the La Forte (TMJ) surgery works. He explained that they hammered into my jaw right where the dead tooth was, which fractured the bone. In doing so, they tore muscle, caused tissue/gum death, damaged nearby teeth, and triggered serious sinus and lymphatic issues. It explained everything. It explained why my body didn’t have time to deal with mold. It was focusing on a major infection all through out my face and bone. I held tears back because it answered a decade of pain. If you ever need a second opinion with your teeth – Go to Dr. Bott. He gives a very thorough consultation.
After radiology reports and 3D imaging, I had major bone loss from this 15 year old surgery. After a dead tooth, 2 implants, cleaning my bone, tongue tie release, lip tie release, mentor’s massage therapy, NAET, stretch4life stretches, my own bodywork, and lymphatic drainage, and recent blood cord stem cells (not aborted fetus tissue)…I am finally reducing the swelling and scar tissue in my arm and head injury.. I know this was detailed but my hope is it might help you or a loved one answer some health questions you might be facing.
It Was and Is All In God’s Plan
At Posture Restorations, I bring every piece of my journey into the way I work. I don’t just look at symptoms. I look at the full story—your nervous system, your injury history, your muscles, scar tissue, and how it all fits together.
I am usually people’s last resort after they have had multiple surgeries, expierences of malpractice, incorrect anatomy, or people who are stuck in cycles of pain and frustration. I try my best to help even if it’s a referral to a tongue tie release with Dr. Ruehle. Yeah, I know. It sounds weird, but your tongue meridian does go from head to toes and can restrict blood through out your body despite how many bodywork sessions, personal trainers, massage, medications, supplements, stretching, surgeries, and acupuncture you do.
Let’s uncover the why—and help you reclaim your health. I also recommend going to a church that reads through the whole Bible every year like a normal book. Start to finish. Getting the whole picture of God’s love for us heals us from the inside out. Without the Oracles of God – we are hopeless, chronically ill, and dislocated mentally. With God, we have it all. Everything we need.
1Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Psalms 19
